It's National Chocolate Eclair Day, and we admit those pastries are amazing, but have you ever thought to yourself, "I wish my chocolate eclair tasted a bit more like coffee."
Here is a recipe for coffee eclairs. The filling and the glaze are coffee flavored. WHAT!?! 🙂
The word comes from French éclair 'flash of lightning', so named because it is eaten quickly (in a flash).
And apparently in the ‘Chambers English Dictionary’ (1988); it defines an éclair as: “a cake, long in shape but short in duration.”
LET'S PAIR IT UP
For a rich chocolate eclair the best pairing will be with an extra dark Italian roast. Let the complexity of the coffee bring out the undertones in the chocolate.
This pairing will redefine, "in a flash."
DARE TO PAIR - San Francisco Bay, Extra Dark Italian
Darker than our French Roast. Roasting this dark gives this coffee a powerful, smoky taste.
