The birthday party guests of the Rogers Family Co. have a long distance to travel.

The coffee roaster that moved to Lincoln from the Bay Area earlier this year expects 125 gourmet coffee farmers from nine countries to help the company celebrate its new headquarters and 30th year in business. The guest list, which is expected to total 250, also will include government officials as well as students from University of California Davis and agricultural specialists.

This is Rogers’ fourth annual coffee farmers meeting, but usually the guest list is much smaller. For the 30th anniversary, the company will provide a tour and grand opening celebration on Aug. 14 before meeting with the coffee farmers.

The next day farmers will take a tour with UC Davis professors, who will showcase the wine industry as a model for what the coffee industry could do for the economy and quality of life in the farmers’ native countries. They’ll visit wineries in the Shenandoah Valley, a grape growing region in Amador County.
