It's National Rum Day and it's Sunday, must be time for a cocktail.

The British Navy gave their seamen a daily ration of rum until 1970 when the practice was finally stopped. Around 230 years earlier a British Admiral named Edward Vernon delivered an order to start watering down the daily ration of rum. (maybe one too many ships run-a-ground)
Soon after the order, this watery alcohol mixture became known as, grog.
If only that admiral had thought like Williams Sonoma when they came up with this Hot Rum Coffee recipe. Less booze, but with a caffeine jolt. Those crew men would have had a lot more energy.
