Happy National Strudel Day
The oldest strudel recipe dates back to 1696, "in a handwritten cookbook at the Vienna City Library."
That's an old pastry!
Modern recipes vary a bit from the original, but they are all delicious.
Flaky dough filled with apple, blueberry, or cherry warmed up and served with some amazing coffee is the only way to properly enjoy a strudel.
